COMMUNITY RESOURCES IN HOUSTON - September 1st
Hi Promise Community School Families!
We're excited to be starting a new school year with you and your family! As a community school, we place importance in making sure our families are connected to resources and information in our community. Throughout the school year, we share a compiled list of resources from BakerRipley and other places in Houston every 1-2 weeks. These are not resources that the school district is directly responsible for so we share contact information so that you can follow up with the appropriate people.
With no further ado, here are this week's resources which includes information on rent assistance, food fairs, mobile hotspots, job posts, and more.

COVID-19 Rental Assistance - bakerripleyrenthelp.org

BakerRipley, Harris County and the City of Houston are offering financial assistance to families who are past due on rent from April - August 2020. The deadline to apply is Wednesday, September 2, 2020. Your landlord must be registered in the system in order to submit an application.

Food Fairs

Free Twin Mattresses - shpbeds.org/request-free-twin-bed

Sleep in Heavenly Peace provides mattresses for children in qualifying zip codes.

Free COVID Testing - houstonemergency.org/covid-19-testing

Getting tested at Houston Health Department-affiliated sites is free, and does not require proof of residency, citizenship or insurance.

Job Posts - facebook.com/advancemycareer and facebook.com/groups/houstonjobs

BakerRipley affiliated groups that share information on jobs and job fairs in Houston.

Mobile Hotspots - houstonlibrary.org/find-it/available-technology/mobile-hotspots

The Houston Public Library has mobile hostpots available for checkout. Go to their website to get a library card if you don't already have one and sign up to pick up a hotspot through their curbside service. There is high demand for hotspots, so there may be a waiting period.
