Hi Promise Community School Families!
As a community school, we place importance in making sure our families are connected to resources and information in our community. Throughout the school year, we share a compiled list of resources from BakerRipley and other places in Houston every 1-2 weeks. These are not always resources that the school district is directly responsible for so we share contact information so that you can follow up with the appropriate people.
This week's resources include information on food fairs, rental assistance, legal aid and more.
Rent Assistance - The City of Houston has opened a new round of funding for rental assistance as of February 25th, 2021.
Applications are available at www.houstonharrishelp.org. Call 832-402-7568 from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m., Monday-Friday, and 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Saturday for questions or help applying.
Free Legal Assistance with Eviction Help: Tenants facing the possibility of eviction for nonpayment of rent will be able to access free legal assistance and help applying for rent at three sites in Harris County on Saturday, 2/27 from 10am - 4pm:

United Way - United Way will continue to update their website with food and water distributions in the center daily. Please check the website if you are looking for support with food or other storm-related needs.

SNAP
Texans in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) will be able to buy hot foods and ready-to-eat-meals with their food benefits through March. SNAP customers can request a benefit replacement for food lost or destroyed due to the winter storm by calling 211, selecting their language, then selecting Option 2.
